    Moonroof Metal Trim Seal Adhesive???

I'm restoring a glass moonroof and had to pull the 2 metal trim pieces that frame the glass. The black adhesive/sealant that adheres the metal trim to the glass seems harder and stronger than silicon like a hard rubber, dry and firm, not tacky, cuts with a razor knife with a fare amount of pressure. Any ideas on what I could use to replace it with?

Hey another moonroof in the NW, I wonder how many more we have up here.
What I will be doing is calling about 5-10 different automotive glass companies and use what they recommend. I don't want to hop to conclusions using a 3M product, or something that may be a little too VAC friendly, and not adhere long term.

Volvo had a small issue with an adhesive that was a little to green/environment friendly, and had more than just a few report their glass pieces gone flying at freeway speeds.

It's probably butyl tape, but silicone windshield adhesive should work fine.
