I have an all original 1990 325is. Never in an accident.
I always one the trunk mechanically (I don't think I have an electric release). The other day, all of a sudden, I turn the key a quarter turn to the right to unlock it and then press on the button and... nothing happens. The button goes in perfectly smooth but the trunk won't release... most of the time. I have been able to "wiggle" it a bit with limited success and that has worked 20% of the time. But it is getting worse. When I did get it open, I looked at the mechanism and everything seemed ok. There is a little "tongue" that rotates a quarter turn with the key and that seems fine.
This is probably a simple mechanical thing to adjust but I'm not sure which one it is. It's like the Unlocking seems to work but actually does not.
I did a search here and on the net but most results I got were related to an electric release or the need to access the trunk from the ski passage. While that would open the trunk temporarily, it doesn't solve the problem long term.
Thank you for any help.
Bo
