    Rear Tailight Assembly Seals

    Hello body people,

I have an 87 325e. And it has these ridiculous spongey gaskets for the rear taillight assemblies.

    http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=63_0193 (#3)

I've replaced these at least twice now and they only seem to go about 6 months or so before they leak -- they seem like a sponge more than any sort of proper gasket. Getting more than tired of opening my trunk to see water pooling on my battery cover.

Does anyone know of any after market products or if the simple rubber gasket seals (I think, anyway) for an e30 325i would work?

    Thanks,

    J

Are you sure it's the tail lights? There are a lot of other places where water can get in, I even had to replace the vent gaskets. Check realoem but I would assume the gaskets are the same for all the early lights. Haven't had problems after replacing mine.
