    Removing 88-91 valance textured paint

Has anyone removed the textured paint on their car and then repainted it so it has a smooth finish? Any problems with it chipping paint a lot easier? Any other comments?

the texture is stone gard. and yes you will chip eaiser with out it. But if the prep is right and you use good materials (PPG or dupont products) I prefer PPG it will last.

30 grit!! Yikes, do people really do that to the valence? There has to be a chemical or paint thinner or something...

          My shaved valence

So here it is. It's possible, albeit a bitch to do. Took me like 4 hrs of hand sanding different grits until it was baby smooth... I never sanded down to the metal... hopefully it will turn out o.k.
