Fix peeling/flaking paint

Hey guys, now that all my mechanical work is done I'm beginning to fix some of the small things wrong with the car. Up next is some pebble sized "holes" in the paint. I've searched around and seen anything from a dab of bondo to feathering it out an inch or two and repainting. My only concern is the spots are not really near a shadowline or body line and I dont want to have mismatched color splotches in the middle of the hood.





Both spots are on the hood and all the way down to the metal. The one near the headlight almost seems like I could chip a few flakes of it off. As the car sits it has almost zero wax or polish on it and feels "chalky". I thought maybe since the paint is somewhat bare I could get away with doing a quarter sized circle around them and not have an issue. Anyone have any fixes other than respraying the whole hood??

Do you want to fix it right or just hide it and prevent rust? If it's the latter give it a go spot painting it. Keep in mind it's what 24-26 year old white paint. It's not going to match perfectly. If that came into my shop it would probably be blent into the fenders job, at least from what I can tell of where the one chip by the drivers fender.

All depends where you get the paint from, and your abilities if you are shooting it yourself. I would try to find a place that has the scanner and they should be able to get you the best match. Either way you are going to want to re clear the whole hood so you should be able to hide it well enough.
