    Strut sheet metal repair

    So, Me and my stubborn ass decided to visit the Local machine and welding supply place. you guessed it. Im fixing it. Then installing Camber plates Just to make sure.
    I love my Sedan for DD. You guys can have the coupe. Except the Cabrio on the weekend.
    The supplies, New gloves,wire brush,flap disc, Tig welding rods.

    The carnage

    Open for surgery


    Hellacious rust beater. These wire brushes kick ass:thumbup:

    Did this repair at my Fathers house. Just thought id share some GMC love. Look at my hood on his hood. :rofl: :rofl: He said it would make a nice air scoop

    Cleaner

    while its jacked up i used the weight of the wheel to flex it back to norm as good as possible While i cut on it. But now its time to take it off!


    Rust!!!!

    now you know what im running suspension wise:bigpimp:

    brushed as clean as i could get it.

    Cut out the rest of the rust:tsk: :tsk:

    Youll have to wait till tomm to get some welding pics, Ive got the piece tacked in but im stillin the process. As well as the other problem areas. You wont recognize it

        Damn. GOod to see other welders on the site though.
        I wish I could TIG. I stick and mig like a mofo though. Good luck, looking forward to seeing the finished product.

          nice, u r ballsy. BUT, why would u want to run some stiff ass camber plate setup after repairing bad rust areas? thats just putting more stress on an already weakened area no?

            yea, If i wanted to be anal and get the camber perfect. From it leaning with the weakened strut housing metal, Thus why i was inquiring to buy your Red 318.
            But im just making due with what i have for now

              If it's welded properly the area should be as strong or stronger than before. You should have no issues with camber plates if you do things right.
