holy fock, I feel your pain. That doesnt warrant a part out though. Floor pans are easy to cut out and weld back in. At least in my experience with chevys

If you have to pay for it, consider twice.

Couple of hours from that point to better than new.

Not biggie, your car is not ruined.

Dude, that isn't even structural from what I see. POR15 is your friend...use it.

                Welcome to R3V.

That looks like an easy fix. Even a little rust terminator, and then some fiberglass and itll be better than new :) Ask me, I replaced the whole floor o my 84 318i with fiberglass! lol

i'd rather do it the right way, cut out a floor pan from a junkyard car without rust. They are all over teh junkyards in california. does anyone sell cheap sheetmetal for e30's like yearone and goodmark for chevy's.

Thanks guys for the heads up and warm welcome. ;-) My first posts here ate r3vlimited (great site BTW), but i'm very active at e30tech.com and megasquirt site (and beta testing new ms2 code right now... i mean once the car is back on the road :D)

i'm had several spec's look at it and they say it is fixable. I'm serious about cleaning it myself and they paying a pro to weld it back together.... as long as the main chasis rails are intact not rusted.

can is 85' uk import 325i coupe, and I'm in new zealand...

looks like drivers side was done before (long time before) and the passanger side looked perfcetly intact until i started poking it with screwdriver :D

it's not really a floorpan issue (has several little rust spots fixed home diy stylez and it gonna be good).

Problem is that that place (same place on both sides) is where the firewall, floorpan and siderail are joined all together. I did some pore poking with screwdriver :D, and it looks like basically alot along the join points is rusted... looks like water got under the sealing tar (no idea how) and eventuall worked it way through...

i'm not sure really what rust removal/prevention product to use... there is so much different ones, i juts dont know what works. Aswell I'm not sure what to paint with with.. there are many primter like prosducts available, fish oil, zinc, notmal primer, special primers (not sure why they are special) just to name a few. today we tried fishoil and it didnt dry at all, so we removed it and applied zinc (used that before... seems to work well so far).... that was on the minor rust spots in the floorpan.

The rest of the car from inside looks pretty intact (fingers crossed)....

                      Will update as I go...

                      Thanks,
                      Mops.

Bummer. Did it poke all the way through? Get the welder ready, IMO.

I promise...once you use POR15 http://www.por15.com/ you will never use anything else. NASTY smelly, MUST use ventilation. Worst headache you have ever had!

I personally look at a rusty floor like this: If I wanted to keep the car forever, cut it out and do it right. I did that with my Chevy Nova, came out perfectly. You really cannot tell it was ever bad, and you could see the ground...before.

If I were able to source a fresher shell, I would do that.

But, if I were gonna keep the car for only a while, I would POR15 it and be done. The shit really does convert rusty nasty metal to decent strength. It becomes paintable again, without further hassle.

I don't know what kind of magical shit you guys have over there, but having been involved in several "restifications" and literally dozens of projects involving rusty floorpans, nothing I have ever seen comes close.

                            GL!

                              Little update.
I have benn slowly cleaning it up after work every day.
I bought 0.5 litre of por15 and 250lm of metal ready.
As always I found several other rusted spots, some rusted through, some not just yet :curse:
I cut out major rust and prepared some patches, some more have to be prepared.... will make some new photos
