need m-tech 1 expert advice

Hi everyone-

I'm about to purchase a set of european bumpers from bavarian auto, and I have a few questions...I was going to have them swap out all the original rubber moldings for m-tech 1 specific moldings, and was wondering what the advantages of doing this would be...also I need to know what other m-tech specific parts I will need to tuck the airdam and apron under the rubber trim. Here's a diagram and list of the bumper parts I have to choose from:

The bumper molding will not mate with the kit smoothly. The proper molding is recommended. It's not cheap but mobile traditions is supporting some of the stuff now.

I would be very through on your part #'s as its going to be a mix of OEM parts & your aftermarket kit. Be sure you can still get all the fastners etc you will need as I know some of them are NLA from BMW.

My kit is OEM m-tech 1, so the hardware should all be OEM for the most part. From what I've been told, the original spring loaded clips that fasten the bumper moldings to the metal pieces are not long enough to fit the m-tech 1 pieces, and that I would need a bolt system...does anyone know what the part number of these bolts are so I can order them through bav auto? Also need to know where I can get the mounting hardware for all of the m-tech 1 body parts, and which parts I Will need to order. Thanks.

They are a subdivision of BMW that make older pieces of stuff that is NLA. They are keeping 2002's alive it seems for ever.

Contact Blunt I believe he has a good connection in house with them now.

the mtech1 specific parts are the 2 front corner plastic moldings and the 2 rear bumper corner stubs. Also on the rear mtech1 I believe that the rubber impact strips are held together by the fasteners with a bolt on the inside rather than the standard clips. All the other parts should be pretty much the same as ordinary euro bumpers.

m-tech parts

so I guess I'm a little confused..three questions: 1) I'm trying to figure out what the part number is for the bolt on clips you were talking about that replace the standard bumper clips. 2) it turns out that Bav auto is not able to source the rear m-tech rubber endcaps...where else could I find these? 3) you were saying I will need all of the mounting hardware listed in those links I gave you with respect to the m-tech body parts...I just want to confirm before I spend more money ordering them in case some of those pieces are not necessary. Thanks for all your support.

you can use the orig ones(rear bumper end caps), you need to do a bunch of trimming, but they dont fit perfect, but they still do look really good. the rear bumper rubber strip is different, and longer, and yes, you need the bolt, with the nuts to hold them on. BMW does still have them, i bought 25 of them a few weeks ago.

On the front airdam Bav auto doesn't carry the left and right covers (that go under the spoiler) or the brackets that seem to attach to them...are these parts necessary?

Basically, I just need to know if any of those parts are unneccesary so I don't spend more money than I need to...all of those parts added up were quite expensive so I'm trying to minimize these costs. I really appreciate all your help.
