    ^^^ thats the first thing i thought of when someone mentioned the lack of "depth" to the paint. i may do this since i have bad paint fade on my hood, roof, and trunk, and a brilliantrot fender on my hellrot car.........

    So, What about having a clear coat on top of the rustoleum color? Kinda like using the same process, but with a clear coat, same application, and sanding and buffing.

    Any ideas?

    rwdrift has a black hood. but his roof and trunk are black also. I think it looks good.

    I think it looks terrible on most cars, the E46s can pull it off okay, but i haven't seen an e30 pull it off. But yup, an old racer's thing to keep glare out of their eyes, they paint the tops of the fenders too. Atleast it works on an e30 though, you can't even see the hood on a Honda. :P

    Mask extra good, that super thinned paint rolled on seeps through masking tape easy.

    Yeah, i got rid of all my body panels and valences (I replaced the front lip spoiler with a stock 'i' lip spoiler) and keeping all of the bumper trim black, I think it's very feasible. Just do the body work and sanding. Prepping is where it's at. I think I can take this...I really do.
    Not to mention, I think that white and chrome look pretty good.
