    weak jack rails

did some work on my car today and while i was jacking the car up I saw that the rails were awkwarkly weak. everytime it bent. also saw a lot of corrosion and rust. think a body shop can restore/recondition it? is this usual/unusual for a near 2 decade car?

there is absolutely nothing that you can do if your car is rusted like that. I got rid of my last e30 just because of the rust situation and becuase i couln't even change a tire without feeling bad for the car. There was a spot in the back where i was to pick up the car, the jack would move the floorboard. believe it! sold it. got a nice rustless FL car w/ perfect rails

you gonna have to find different jacking points, like the rear diff or mainframe on the front.....idk if jacking from the front subfrap is safe, but i did it a few times.

search "bimmer diy" on google (first link) and look under e30 for jacking points and it'll show you a pic of a turned over e30 with all the jacking points and jack stand points on the car

    No more e30s for me.

      Check out our jackpads!
They help preserve those frame rails and make lifting a breeze.

Buy a hockey puck (about $1) and cut a slot in it.
