    Difference between OE front apron/spoiler

What is the difference between these two parts?

    http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...52&hg=51&fg=15

#1 is the standard IS spoiler (I believe) and I'm not sure about #2. How low is #2 and what cars did this come on? Should I just stick with the stock #1 IS spoiler for a stock looking DD?

Also I believe that I read in another thread that there are 10 clips 51 71 1 979 334 (white) or 51 71 1 945 568 (black) that are needed to hold the part on - is this correct?

Thanks a bunch if anyone replies.

Looks to me like #1 is standard i and e lip and #2 is the iS lip. I don't know about the clips because I don't have a lip.

trying to decide which one I want - do most guys get the IS lip or the standard one?

Car has euro bumpers (plastic), euro lip on tailgate, and is an 'IS faker' car. I want it to look stock and not racey, aggressive but this is a practical DD so I need to be able to drive in snow, get over speed bumps, driveways, etc.

Car has already been lowered a bit. Do you know if there is a difference in length between the two? If so how much?

      Thanks,
      TJW

Yeah, the 'i' lip is probably an inch tall, but the 'is' lip is around 3" tall.

So chances of me ripping off the i lip again is decent but chances of me ripping off the IS spoiler are about three times greater :-)

I think I'll go for the IS lip unless it's like $300. If I post for this in the parts section how much should I expect to pay for a good used one? I'll spend the $ at the dealership so if I get used I'd only want perfect condition parts.

Thanks for the replies. Also FredK where do you live and do you know of any good places to get out and drive around boston area?

Those clips are for the 88-91 "i" and "is" lip spoiler. I got mine on bavauto for $165 or something like that. You need 10 of those clips pictured as well. They are like $1-$2 each. It's all based on preference. I love the "is" lip myself and they come from bavauto.com in a flat white color.

I got quoted $139.88 for the IS lip and 229.88 for the front panel. 0.48 each for the clips (black or white).

If I can't find a good used one ASAP I'll just buy the new OE parts.
