Anyone Help Me out? iS Trunk Spoiler Install - I need some measurements?

Ben is out of town but I made a drawing of the trunk for him and looking for someone to take some measurements.

Can anyone do this for me?

I am going to make a damn write up for it too.

    I need the following measurements:

I also need a measurement of what size the drill bit is. If someone will make this I will make a VERY nice DIY for the site! Thanks!

Um... There is a factory template that is still available from the dealer. Much easier then measuring.

Yea, drill where the gray circles are:

I think you're gonna need the factory template.

Here, i used this template to drill holes for my E30. it works like a charm. remember, measure 4548786 times, drill once.

          It is only slightly helpful...

          looks like maybe 7.5mm

Someone take a picture for me?

Pop there trunk and take a picture down inside one of the holes and see if the nut is centered on the backside up in the hole or if they are all over the place?

a few of the nuts are centered, some are not. I used that template (listed above) and it came out PERFECTLY. measure twice drill once.

lay masking tape over the rear 5" of the trunklid, and mark / drill through that. then deburr with a file and rustoleum (or similar) the holes. It helps to lay masking tape vertically and measure a centerline of the trunk, as those measurements depend on it.

What size bit did you use?

convert to metric - 1 inch is 25.4 millimeters.

hold the drill bit up to one of the studs on the spoiler. 7.5 mm sounds right, and is what's listed on that schematic above. i used a centerpunch to notch the spot, then a small bit to pilot drill. worked beautifully.

Yah that was my plan... conversions usually end in being slightly off ;) hehehe

                      Thanks buddy!
