Rear fender molding

Did any of the early e30s (83-88) come with all black fender molding ? I found out that the rear fender molding from the 89+ cars don't fit my car, it's about 1/2" longer. The door molding on that other hand is the same length....

Well, I looked at a couple e30s at a junk yard and pulled the rear fender molding and compared it side by side with the early fender molding and they are not the same length.

I just need a confirmation if such a part exists in the right length, otherwise looks like I'll have to deal with painting my chrome trim black..

You just need the right ones for an eairly car. The arches are lower on the late models (or higher) so the size is different.

no i think factory shadowlining was a late model only option.

No factory had shadowlined cars dating back to the 86 M technik 1 cars.

Hmm, i'll call the dealer tomorrow and order them new. I just wanted to make it actually exists.

I semi remember someone just flipping the molding upside down. Aka move the right side to the left in the process the chrome moves to the underside.

Just spoke with a local bmw dealer and here is what they told me.

51 13 1 942 693 comes up in the system as a "ring"
51 13 1 942 694 comes up as molding $51 each

51 13 1 942 697/ 698 comes up as molding 51 each.

Was told they can also order

953 927/928 front molding $26 each (this pn comes up on the euro 325i)
961 105/106 for rear $38 each (need to confirm, might be for 6/88+)
