    Rear Quarter Popout window

    Hi,
I was wondering if all models of coupes, in other words all years, have the exact same popout windows?
I'm asking because I just bought a used popout window and there is a difference in that the one I bought, from an '87, has a rubber weather strip around it, while my current ones don't. And since my car was rear-ended , I'm wondering if my windows were replaced with the right ones or not.

Also, are the sizes the same?

    Thanks,
    Matt

Some didn't come with pop-out windows. My guess would be you got glass from a non-pop-out car.

It could be the glass is different between early model and late model cars do to the different rear fender arches.

well i am guessing that early models have weather strips on the windows, and late models have them on the actually body, never hurts to have two weather strips. I know my friend stole the back windows off our parts car 88 325i and put them on his 87 325is. So i am guessing in 89 is when they started switching over

I believe when BMW did the update to the e30's is when the rear windows changed as well. Pre 88 had pop out rear 1/4 windows and post 89 had non pop out rear 1/4 windows. When they went to the short bumpers and black body side trim and window trim is when the windows changed.

I have an 89 with popouts - factory.

One of the windows had been replaced by the looks of it. All is the same buy the BMW logo on the glass. One is full white and clear, the other is white lined and clear. On the roudel.

Well I just replaced my window and the sizing is perfect, so I guess windows from early popout e30s fit in later non-popout e30s.
The only thing is that the black moulding that holds the window in place, the b-pillar, is springy, meaning that I can press on it and squish it against the car by about 1/4 inch and it'll spring back out. Is this normal? My previous window's trim fit snugly. Just a minor problem though.

Normal. I have seen it many times.

                Thanks,
Then if all went well, I might swap my other window with a 'proper' one.
By the way, since the used windows I bought were from an '87, they had the chrome trim. I painted them with satin black paint and they came out perfect.
