    painting question

i was going to paint my valve cover today but i noticed the paint says it takes 7 days to dry. Does anyone know if i could wait less than 7 days? Or how long have some of you guys waited before driving?

afaik valve covers don't get that hot. Most cars have spark plug wires lying on top of them and plastic covers. I would think any engine block paint would do fine.

Yes, you should wait the complete time for the paint to completely cure.

7 days? That's overkill. You can leave it in the sun or bake it
in a bbq grill to speed things up. I left mine in the sun a few hours and it was good to go the next day. Never had any issues.

My dad rebuilds engines for a career, he uses engine enamal, just for the block usually but i have seen him paint it on assemble the block and start it in his truck only in one day he didn't care to let it cure or anything. Not sure on the price but i am sure it's not that expensive as he brings home cans all the time for me. I would paint it, wait a few hours sand that logo and the lines then it should be good
