late black window trim fit early windows?

so rather than paint my chome trim black I was wondering if i could pull the black trim from a newer e30 and put it on the older body? I apologize if this info has been beat to death but I figured I could get a faster answer this way. this is in reference to the inner trim line, including the pieces that fit below the glass

YES , pieces are the same .


BUT the only US cars that came with all black (shadowline) trim are the 88-91 M3 and the 91 318is .

But he can get the inner pieces, like the ones going around the windows, from any late model.
