Side Mirror Disassembly

Hi,

Anyone ever figure out how to separate the two parts of a side mirror? I am going to paint mine and need to get them apart. Its off the car, glass removed. Can't easily see how the parts come apart.

I think the hinge is flared like a rivet. I have looked at them, but havent spent any time attempting to take them apart as it didnt look doable. I painted two sets just fine without seperating them. Just be patient.

Thanks. I am having a body shop do it in conjunction with some other stuff. They asked if I could get them apart so I was giving it a shot. As usual, what I think will be a 5 minute deal turns out to be something completely different.

if theres a way, i couldnt see it. i destroyed a set just trying to figure this out. once in pieces, i still couldnt see points in which to release anything.
