I have diving boards and was searching about the fitment of the m tech II rep one piece rear bumper and cant find anything of interest. Will there still need to be cutting involved or would it just be simpler to just get the two piece rear bumper?

If you would want it to fit right you would want to put a late style bumper on. The rear bumper cover has two bolts that go into the body. (that part of the body is not included on the early ride. So I think it would flap around like a hoe in a hurricane.'89 "is" = M technic II build mode.
