    abrahams motorsport mtechII bumper

i was just wondering if anyone has bought there bumpers and if so hows the fitment and material like?.. basicly overall review of the product.. feedback would be much appreciated.

and it says its only for plastic bumpers?!... what exactly does that mean... yes i know what plastic bumpers are ... but is it the hardware that the plastic bumpers have that a diving board bumper doesn't have make a difference in the installation...?!

    thanks in advance

their website says their mtech 2 bumper & fender(lower valence) r made of fibreglass. I got a reply where they claimed there has been no complaint of paint cracking/flaking etc during the last 5 years they have been selling this item...

Can anyone who had installed theirs provide feedback?

I have heard other owners (in SE Asia) who claimed fibreglass ones sucks as it gives a wavy surface and paint cracks over time....

    thks

If you want to go aftermarket - they have quality products re: the Mtechnic II items. Mel is good stuff.
'89 "is" = M technic II build mode.

In my experiences with the fiberglass MtechII pieces aa well as most other aftermarket FG body pieces they are simply the "covers" or "skins" with no real provisions for the bumper shocks or the rebar .

Although I have no first hand experience with the Abrahams pieces it still seems like they are meant to mount on top of the late model rebar and thats why they say they are meant for late models only .

You could thrash all of you early bumper surrounds and bumpers and then drill the shocks so they are short enough and then custom mount the FG pieces to them .

              That's true.
These fiberglass covers are meant to replace the existing bumpers. So, you will no longer have the safety of having a real bumper in case of an accident.

i thought this is an item for the plastic bumper cars only, in that, you keep the plastic bumper core and 'mount' the fiberglass cover to that, much in the same way you would a real mtechII bumper cover.

mounting this cover in any other way w/o the plastic bumper's core is either ghetto or a LOT of work. (also pay attention to the fact that the rear fender line is different on early cars)

DO NOT assume it is that easy to attatch this skin to your early model bumperd car.

I had been in contact with Abraham and he said they're direct replacements, and that, say, the lower lip portion can be purchased seperately and will fit with the stock 89-91 bumper, essentially providing the same protection as stock but with the fiberglass lower lip.

I'm going to be purchasing one soon, so I'll post pics once I do.

If it's a street-driven car, don't sacrifice safety for some POS fiberglass kit.

Yes, that is true. My brother put the Abraham's Mtech valence on his car, but not the Mtech bumper cover.

That front valence is CLEAN. I would go that route, since you still retain safety features and get a nice clean look with it.

I've heard mixed reviews regarding the quality of the M-Technic II replica parts that AMS sells. Although I have no experience with the items myself the overwhelming majority seems to feel a lot is left to be desired.

I do know you can get the same parts from Eurostyle in Canada, shipped to the US, for less then the before shipping price from AMS. I've dealt with Eurostyles stuff plenty and I've come to really appreciate and trust the quality fiberglass items he provides.

I would like to see these "mixed reviews" - the only feedback we have received on our M Tech 2 kits we sell have been positive.
The parts that Eurostyle in Canada sells are not made by the same company as ours.I have no idea where they are made.
I am sure they are well made but please get your facts together before making a statement about ours on the messageboard - especially the generalisation -

Show me the facts please - who are the majority?.

If I decide to go with non OEM aftermarket M Tech II, the only place I will consider is Abrahams Motorsport. Everything I have put on mycar from Mel has been high quality.
