    Plastic repairs

While my M3 is apart, I want to repair stuff like the fender liners and the big plastic cover the tucks in behind the front bumper. What kind of plastic is this and what product would a guru use to fix it. I've just got some cracks around screw holes, nothing major. I dont need to do any major reconstruction. I tried fiberglass but could not get it to bond. After it cured, I could just peel it off. Yes, my prep was correct.

    TIA,

Plastic welder, cheap ones can be had at harbor freight, Type material...I believe it's abs? But not positive. Why not buy new from say Blunt Tech or Don MacAdams?

      That stuff is still available?

The parts I have aren't so far gone that they need replacement, just repairs. But new is good too.

I am on the understanding that yes they are still available. Blunt's got a good contact with Mobile Traditions and the M3 is supported by them very well.

Don has his site listed over on S14.net and has good connections as well.

You need to go down to Barnes & Noble and see if they have this book I just bought:

          http://www.amazon.com/How-Repair-Pla...0581013&sr=1-1

This book is fucking awesome. It tells you how to identify what kind of plastic you're working with, how it's made, and the best repair methods for it.
