    Roller Painting Question

In the sanding process how much did you sand? Did you just rough/scuff it or did you sand it down until it had a completely uniform surface? Up until this last coat I've been most taking it down to uniform surface but I was wondering about the "ripples" that occur not matter what I do with the roller. I've minimized 'em by rolling over the paint has just started to tack up but when sanding I notice there's still a considerable ammount of "ripple" occuring. Should I just run the sand paper over the top and scuff it all good and dandy or sand it down to uniformity? Thanks in advance.

Chris - kudos for coming all the way down here for the meet. I'm quite impressed with what you have done so far...... for $37.00.

Sand it as smooth as you can. Any high spots that you leave will be highlighted by the next layer of paint you apply.
800/1200/2000 wet sand is how I would do it. Use a couple of drops of dish soap in a bucket of water while sanding. It helps clean the surface and extends the life of your sandpaper. Rinse and dry the car well before your next coat. Wipe with a wax and grease remover (about $10 a quart at any auto paint store). It is basically a slow dry thinner - use two towels. Soak one the the WaGR and wipe a small section. Follow with a clean dry towel. Wear gloves - that shit is nasty.

      Awesome. Thank's a bunch Keith.

It was a blast coming down to West Linn for the meeting. I was a tad on the ragged tired side so I feel I wasn't as part of things had I been 100%, but regardless it was tons of fun and I enjoyed working with you guys. I think it's rad that you open your personal shop and lift to guys like us ;)

Could the paint be rippling as a result of it not being thin enough?
