About to tackle roller paint job - gloss black - few questions:

I've heard there is a certain kind of marine version of rustoleum that would be best to use. What specific paint would you recommend for a gloss black roller job? We're going to take our time on this one and spend a TON of time sanding and wetsanding, applying several layers for a smooth, mirror-like black gloss job.

Planning on following this guy's process: http://www.bryanswebpage.com/Paint/Gallery/index.htm

    Any other thoughts/suggestions?

    -Evan

Edit: also need to do a little bondo work for some dents and dings. any good how-to's you could direct me to?

If your doing black, get a spray gun and spray it. That Mustang looked like crap. Out of all the roller jobs that i've seen, Frank has done the best one.

      We're on a ridiculously low budget :(

        Just saw your post.
Today I rolled on what I hope is my final coat. The yacht paint you are looking for is called Brightside and is made by Interlux. Web site is www.yachtpaint.com, IIRC. They do make a black. It is extemely glossy, so will show every little flaw in your bodywork if you're not careful. It is excellent paint, though. An E30 takes about 2 quarts, and you'll want to thin it with what they call "brushing liquid" which I think is some kind of glorified turpentine, but I like to use the same family of products for predictable results. It is far easier to use than the Rustoleum. Fewer coats, and only needs thinned about 10%.
I'll post pics of mine up in a day or two once it's dry and I yank all the tape and crap off it.

Well, I was almost done. And then things went to shit. :(
Correctable, but a lot of damn work. You can see the pics of the car here:

Naturally, the places (there are 3) where the paint pulled off are all on some of my better panels.
As for finding the paint...that site sucks a bit to use, but there is a supplier list you can search on there somewhere. It's pretty much exclusively sold at boat dealers. Shop around; we found pricing to be variable on it also. You may be able to find it on Ebay, though I have not looked, and it is sold through some online suppliers if you just search for "Interlux Brightside".
