    Floorboard metal?

What metal is our floorboards made out of? It might be a stupid question but I just want to make sure.

I got naval rust jelly and it can't be used on some metals so I want to double check.

    Thanks

      Alright, thanks Jordan.

Anyone know if it is safe to use Naval rust remover? I have some surface rust on the floor and just bought 2 bottles for the M30 block.

Use it, it's a kinda slow process with that goop so be sure to wire wheel away as much scale and loose crap as you can to begin with. If you dont you'll just turn out to make a bunch of brown jello before it gets to actually do anything to the lowest rust. Get it to the point where it's just sort of pitted brown metal rather than really rough, you've gotten the rust down to the surface past the scale. If it's really badly pitted though I'd suggest cutting it out and fabbing up some patch panels from some sheet metal found at a local hardware store.

A quality rust converter, like the one SEM has is a lot easier to use than naval jelly IMO.

Agreed, I've used a product called Picklex 20 with good results as well.

              Chris

What does the converter do with the rust? Does it dissolve the rust, like the naval jelly? Also, would it be good enough to use on a block?

POR-15 is a good option. Eastwood makes a similar product IIRC.
