    Shaved door locks

I've searched and not found much info on this. My locks on the doors have never worked (can't turn the key) I've always used the keyless. I am in the middle of prepping for a full respray and I'm going to shave them off of the doors.

So what should I remove from the door? Nothing? I've got the lock cylinder out, but I assume everything else stays so that the power locks still work? In the case of a dead battery, I can use the key in the trunk and get to the battery. Charge or jump and turn the key in the trunk to unlock the doors.

Shouldn't be a problem at all... right?

I was planning on doing the same thing also. Im in the same boat as you are with the lock cylinder never working, using the keyless entry or the trunk if necessary.

I figure if you just pull out the cylinder and leave the rest that is all you have to do. Bondo the hole up and paint it.

I don't think it'd be best to just bondo it. It will need to be filled with a small piece if metal, welded carefully so it doesn't warp and then ground flush. Then you use a skim coat of filler. But don't buy bondo brand filler. I've been using Evercoat filler. Pay for good filler.

if you just put filler over that hole it will crack over time. Especially being on the door.

do not use bondo in the hole. you must weld in sheetmetal, bunch of tack welds. make sure not to get the metal to hot, as you will warp the door. try to make everything as flush as possible, grind the welds and use a fiberglass filler if needed. use putty only for finishing it is not good as a filler.
