Converting 89 325i to older specs

Hey yall. I'm new to the E30 world but I am just about to pick up a beater 89 325i to use as a race car in an ultra low buck racing series. Because of its inexpensive nature, there is a high chance of contact with other cars (who am I kidding - our last car got thrashed), and I want to make my car durable.

Because of this, I want to convert the car to the older diving board style bumpers. Yeah, I'm probably the only person in the world who wants to do this, right? So my question is, is this swap straightforward? I'm thinking it should be a bolt-on swap.

On a similar note, can the same thing be done with the headlights? I'd like to swap from the ellipsoid to the earlier sealed beam for replacement costs.

Finally, are the later (88+) taillights any more desirable than the earlier models? We are allowed to sell off parts to recoup costs, and was thinking someone may be able to swap these plus some cash to someone who wants them. Same thing with the headlights and bumpers.

    Thanks!

Awesome, just what I needed to know!

When it comes time to strip the car (we don't even have it yet), I'll post up here regarding a headlight/bumper trade.

To the vultures circling my car for parts:

and the swap wouldn't be a freebie. The event I'm racing in has strict limits on the value of the car, but we can make back money by selling parts. Since my car has the more desirable parts, I would put a feeler out for what would be a fair price or maybe trade for some other stuff.

sell me your bumper and then you can go buy a metal bumper for like 10 bucks at the junk yard.

Well our deal for this car fell through at the last minute, so it's a moot point.

Still got my eyes open for a cheap E30 though.
