    Stripping Carbon Fibre

    I have acquired a carbon bonnet.

    Sadly it is painted which will not do.

    How does one go about properly stripping and re-clear coating it so the weave is exposed, but protected?

      almost anything you put on that paint to remove it will destroy the hood. you sanding it just enough to remove the paint but do not get into the matrix material

            Don't use any paint strippers they will ruin the chemical resin that holds the fibers together.

            I know these are bike links but its the same idea since that involves sanding down carbon

            also note that when you sand down the paint if you see grey or white(like below) thats alright but as soon as you see black you don't want to sand there any more as that is the carbon and no longer the clear coat
