i was wondering the same thing. i got rear ended and when i looked at the car after the repairs, the rear bumper sat about a centimeter (1/2 inch) away from the body.

anyways, not to steal your post, i was also wondering if this is how it would have sat before the accident

      Hello,

I have the same problem with my rear bumper, it sags on the sides.
Brackets are fine and i have tryed to adjust them but it wont help.
I havent been rear-ended and everything is in good condition but the 1-2cm cap is still there.

I think this is an common problem in e30 and e34 since i have saw ALOT of these sagging rear bumpers.

      Help is needed!

Body shops like to put washers under the bumper mounts; unbolt the mounts and pull out the washers. This will move the bumpoer closer to the body. The mounts are adjustable, so you can move the mounts up higher in their slots or use a dremel to slot the holes even more.
