    IS Spoiler Repair

Im looking to paint my IS spoiler, but first i need to prep the part. The surface is full of cracks that look too deep to sand off/out, yet i know that traditional bondo will not work with a flexible part.

Would anyone recommend a plastic body filler that would work well on an IS spoiler?

I was even considering a fiberglass filler topped with bondo to make it 'flex-less' and keep it from cracking again.

I would try SEM Flexible Primer. That stuff is pretty freaking cool. I'm going to re-do mine and that's what I'm going to try first.

    1. Course sand.

    2. Prime (exactly as the SEM insctuctions say)

    3. Finish Sand

    4. Paint (I'm going with SEM Trim Black)

I need to do the same thing with a zender 2-level spoiler (kind of like the mtech-II spoiler). I took it to a body shop to see what they would recommend and they said that the rubber may be structurally damaged and that the cracks would just reappear in a few weeks. Others have said this isn't true, but thought I'd throw it out there. Naturally, I'm still going to try to paint mine ;)

Just sand the whole spoiler down to bare plastic with a DA, 80, 180, then 320 grit then use a decent urethane primer to seal it up. Sand the primer and paint it! Those big cracks and spiderwebbed paint WILL return if you don't sand the part all the way down to plastic. If the cracks are too big to fill with the primer then I recommend Evercoat Poly-Flex Glazing putty. Good luck!

Black ABS plastic glue (like for plumbing) all it is: MEK and ABS resin works bitchin' good.

Apply it, let it cure until the smell is gone and wet sand it.
