    valence / spoiler questions ???

I did some searching already and now Im a bit comfused. I have a 1986 325 eta. Valence has no fogs or anything, pretty much just a black trim across the bottom. Looking to replace the valence cause its bent up anyway........want to install a newer set up w/ fogs and a bit more sporty looking. I read this link ..stricklyeta.net...has a write up on installing........describes as a spoiler that bolts on to the stock valence ??? Am I missing parts on my car ?? I was under the impression the valence sat behind the bumper not bolted to the bottom of it. Have I got these two parts mixed up ??

heres a pic of what I have now........I pulled the bumper already, and I can see there are bolts that attach the valence to the fenders and middle sections of the front end. Do I need to buy a newer model valence AND spoiler ???? I know this has been kicked around a bunch.....

The valance is the whole piece under the bumper. You can upgrade to the late model valance by simply unbolting your stock early valance and bolting up a late model valance. Its also worth it to change to the newer style plastic bumper and ditch the old aluminum bumper. All you will need is the plastic bumper, the plastic bumper shocks and the stock late model lower valance.

Any question just PM me. I helped my buddy with his and I have help others do theirs as well.

thats the impression I was under........all one piece. I got to reading the strickly eta writeup and it showed a spoiler that bolted up to the bottom of the bumper and some type of support bar behind it. I thought maybe my car was missing parts ? Alright.........headed out of the office, I'll catch up in the morn.

The one you're talking about is the pre-facelift IS lip. It looks like this:

It's a direct bolt on and is supported by a flat bar just below the bumper.

Yes you can use the aluminum bumper with the late model valance. It will look exactly like an 88 from the front. Do some research on an 88 E30 and you will see what yours will look like.

cool, thanks. I did a little searching on e30tech.com, found an exact d-i-y writeup. I think I found the correct part number ?? 41331925148 from real oem for a 5/88 e30 325e. I cant seem to find that number in a search tho.

You'll also need to cut your stock tow hooks to run a facelifted valence. It's not a bolt on situation.

Yes. But I think you should find one in a jy. Unless you're planning to do extensive bodywork otherwise. I picked one up for $25 last week.
