DIY Rustoleum - Apply directly to bare metal?

I've sanded my car down with 80>120>220>320>600, and there's a lot of bare metal. Do I need to put some kind of 'sealer' coat or whatever on before the rustoleum/mineral spirits mix? Any recommended products? I'm kinda clueless when it comes to this stuff :D
    Thanks!

EDIT: Well, I went out and purchased some rustoleum Clean Metal Primer.. should do the trick.

yea, I'm going to attempt the roller paint job. Looks like rustoleum makes a "clean metal primer" - I assume that's what I should use?
