    Matching Alipne White II

My original hood has been damaged and replaced with a straight junkyard hood. The junkyard hood is currently flat black and the rest of my paint is in good condition. I'm wondering if simply spraying the new hood alpine white II will give me a satisfactory match to my original paint.

If this will work where can I acquire the correct factory color and how much would be needed? My girlfriends father has been doing paint on his personal projects for years and will be able to help me spray if I can come up with all the supplies needed, so what exactly would be needed?

I have called around and the local shops are quoting me between 300 and 500 to paint the hood, I'm hoping that this can be done a little bit cheaper than that.

    Thanks for the input everyone.

Find a used alpine white hood. They are plentiful and the color will match.

It most likly will not match, you will have to blend the paint in. Aslo try taking the paint shop something from your car, like your gas door to match that and get a better paint match.

Okay, lets say that the new hood will match when painted. Where is the best place to find the right color? Is everything called "bmw alpine white II" going to be the same or are there OEM brands that I should use? quart, gallon, how much paint is needed? Does left over paint keep well if I ever need to paint anything else or should I only buy as much as i need right now?

Sorry for the noob questions, Ive never done any paint work before, thanks.

try maaco and see what they quote you. i dont believe alpine2 is available anymore so youre going to have to have someone paint match it for you. i dont think it should take much more than maybe 2 pints.

paint code is on your driver's side strut tower. It's a single stage paint, so all you need to do is prime and paint, no need for a clear. I don't know if you need to thin legit paint though, never bought it like that. Go to a PPG or some other legit paint store and get a quart mixed up to that code, and compound/buff the rest of your paint to get it to shine as nice as possible
