    Need info on valance.

First I want to say I am still a noob with bmw's, and second I want to say sorry to KAMOTORS's for jacking his sig, but it was the first pic of the valance i found. Any way, what did this valance originally come on. And where can I get the lip that attaches to it. I found the metal valance at a local junk yard for 15 bucks, it was on an 86 four door eta. I know it didn't come from the dealer like that. I had to cut two slots for the two hooks on mine to use it. But other then that it looks so much better then the original one.

I have an 86 2 door eta and really like the bumper on kamotors car. Is that the euro or just an the '88 style. I just want to get rid of the plastic bumper surround. I would prefer to do the 99+ plastic bumpers, but supposedly that swap requires a lot of hacking up stuff. I have been and still am doing a lot of research on the e30 and stuff that I can do to it. This issue is just a little harder to figure out. Thanks ahead of time for any info and help on this.

All right your looking for a 89-91 valance (red area) iS lip (Black portion) and an iS splitter (smaller peice under larger black lip) and LM (Late model) Front Plastic Bumper w/ Shocks from a junkyard to duplicate his front look. You will also need a grinder with a cutting wheel to remove your tow hooks, as the newer bumper shock has an intigrated tow hook interface. You will want to get the brake ducts, fog lights, center vents, and any associated clips, nuts, bolts and mounting hardware.

I did the valance swap, its a bit of work but not too hard, you can swap that valance under your aluminum bumpers in the meantime, still improves the look IMO

I havent tracked down plastics yet, but i did use shorter shocks from an early '88, tucked the bumpers slightly.

after looking at the plastics shocks, i think those would fit too if you cut the tow hoow thingy off them, and would tuck them quite a bit.

The valance is already installed with slots cut for the tow hooks. It came with the brake ducts, but no fogs. So to complete the look I need the plastic bumper, is lip, is splitter (doesn't some one on here make them?). And some cutting and grinding? Sound easy enough. Thanks for the info. I knew that valance didn't come on the 86 eta.

Though if I could get my name diving board to tuck. I just might keep it. Where would be a good place to get the is lip. Do I have to find a oem one, or does anybody make new ones?

I think abrahams may be still running the 149 shipped deal, in the group buys forum...

Also there is the volvo lip which i run, which has a similar design to an is lip, and costs 10-20$ at a junkyard. might be a good choice for a track car or alternative to the is lip, unless you have reservations about it being "played out" or non bmw
