    paint prices

how much in paint would it cost to paint an e30 coupe, i want to paint my car black, so this would include paint for the engine bay, door jambs, the pillars and under hood, under trunk etc. I will only be painting these places myself and having a friend of mine do the exterior, so basically I want the e30 black for my jambs, engine bay, underneath hood/trunk areas. are there specific brands to stay away from, should i get OEM black....etc....

just looking for basic information on what kind of paint to buy and how much. I already have all the tools needed, so i just need material costs. thanks

Honestly, if you're using a non-metallic black the cheapest and easiest way is simply to buy good spray can gloss black (Krylon) and just spray it. Black is black, so color matching really won't be an issue.

It generally takes 2 quarts to paint a car exterior. To paint a race car (inside and out, complete interior and hood/trunk bay) took a gallon.

to paint the whole car. jams and all you will need a gallon of paint un mixed. Then whatever the paint requires to reduce it. 2:1 or 3:1.

This is not always the case. Some blacks have a brown in them. Can't tell it most of the time till you get under different lights.

Some do. However, if he is simply repainting the car in a non-oem color, aftermarket blacks are usually straight without the tint.

Kirker should be about half that, maybe even less. You can buy it online from a place called something like Smart Shoppers.

what is the paint code for OEM black? I have a friend who works in a paint shop and can probably get me a deal, also does black require a clear coat? I have heard the oem black is pretty much standard black, but just wanted to confirm. thanks for the suggestions tho

OEM black would be clearcoat on these cars, but nobody says you have to buy a 2 stage paint. You can get factory colors in a single stage.
