but the way the industry is going the body guy is getting fucked out of his money very slowly as the insurance companies tighten things down and pay less and less for the same quality work.

i just don't see the future in it like it used to be.
pretty much the whole automotive field is heading down hill compared to what it used to be.

i wish it wasn't, because i really enjoy doing it.

Agreed. Here is my future prediction... insurance companies owning thier own body shops. The nice thing about being a painter though is we can paint anything we want not just cars.

Another interesting thread. I want to learn to do body work. I have been screwed by shops in the past so in my opinion if I want something done right then I have to do it myself.

Doing bodywork is kinda one of those things where practice makes perfect. The first time you do it you fail. The more you do it the better you get. Then the better you get you can do it with your eyes closed.
