You have to eyeball it up. Then drill new holes.

You have to make it work since it is wider than the trunk on the e30. It will overhang onto the 1/4 panels something like a 1/2" on both sides. Seems like I remember someone else saying the outer most mounting bolts on the spoiler just barely are able to be mounted to the underside of the trunk from either side in the rain gutter area. All other bolts are nowhere near the oem mounting locations for the "is" spoiler or Mtech1 spoiler IIRC...

I put some sort of gel on the ends of the studs on the spoiler, then sat it on the decklid where I wanted to drill. When I picked it up the studs had left residue right where I needed to drill. I drilled it and then had to do a little dremeling to enlarge the holes for the final fitting of the spoiler. You will probably need adhesive or screws to keep the sides sitting flush with the decklid/quarter panel.

Mine fits good. I've also got the proper M-tech 1 and while it obviously fits better, I like that the E28 part covers more of the rear deck.

                +1

I almost did the same thing as rThor432, I aligned the half circle on the wing to the rear emblem, then I used some liquid paper or nail polish on the ends of the screws to leave a mark. I also taped the area where I had tested fitted the wing originally so to not scratch the trunk paint, and than I went on to drilling once I had my markings on top of the masking tape.

One more thing, make sure you have someone else help you lay the wing as flat as you can when you are test fitting, because if you don't, you will end up with huge holes in the trunk as you are trying to make it fit snug.

                Good luck.
