Replacing Driver's Door Lock (w/ Central Locking)

    88 325is here.

Anyway, I'm kind of tired having to open up the passenger side door and reaching over everything simply to lock my driver's side door. The driver's side door unlocks just fine, though. I'm just getting lazier.

How difficult is this job, really? I find a timing belt on this car to be fairly difficult, yet I find the connector piece that connects the hose from the brake fluid reservoir to the clutch master cylinder a giant pain. Go figure.
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
    Mark: "You never will."

Pelican sells a key lock repair kit Honestly my driver side is also broken and i unlock from the trunk, easiest and cheapest fix would be 25 dollar keyless entry

      Hmm...

And how difficult would that be?

PS My central locking system does not work.

I replaced my lock cylinder couple of years ago. It wasn't all that difficult. Picked up the lock kit from the dealer. The instructions that came with it was in German :-(

I have never done a timing belt job. But, this is likely to be lot less complex and less time consuming :)

Instructions should be easy to find on Bentley/other_e30 sites.

The Omega mentioned in this thread is much cheaper and works fine:

I have used a few of them with great success.

There are few things more expensive than a cheap BMW...

send me a copy of your key and i'll send you a brand new rebuilt cylinder ready to put in for $45 shipped

best idea is to purchase a brand new key so your lock will be fresh and yummy

              but either way works

I just did mine last night. I bought the kit from Pelican and like bala eos mentioned the instructions was in German.

It was not that hard to do. I would recommend that you do it on a day with plenty of sunshine so you can see what the heck you are doing inside the door. It was a fun job. If you have more specific questions please ask.
