Fixin' a fender-bender

Thanks, I tried some SEM primer on the areas I feathered out to be repainted, and even thought I used SEM primer before, it wrinkled up in all the areas where the old primer was exposed from sanding, so the guy that's going to repaint the bumper for me is just going to strip it back down bare and re-primer/paint.
Oddly, this didn't happen around the area where I did the plastic repair.Leave a comment:

If the pinstripe paint is ontop of the paint on the car it can be sanded off with 2000 grit sand paper then polished out.Sucks I have to pinstripe it, now. I was going to remove all the pinstripe from the car, but when I pulled up the silver pinstripe tape that's on it, I found TAN pinstriping PAINT under it.
Fuck that little asshole. I banned his ass after he told me that "I don't deserve a refund after the way you've been treating me". I'm still going to riddle it full of 12g rounds and drop it on his front porch next time I'm in Portland.Leave a comment:

Looks to be perfect. That's the great thing about schwarz, it's just standard gloss black. My car is really dusty right now, but I cleaned off a spot and mock-mounted the fender. I'll need to have the whole car cut and buffed, but when I've had it done before, the paint looked new. It will match fine.Leave a comment:

Flawless, I can wait to get a respray done on mine. I love the engine bay, but now Im thinking of diamond black would be so nice.
How well does the fender match the rest of the car?Leave a comment:

Looks great!
Did you ever get any sort of resolution with that douchebag after ripping you off on the parts trade?

Just got the fender back about 10 minutes ago. Not happy. They hardly got all the crumpled parts of the fender straight, you can still see waves all over the front. They didn't undercoat the lower rocker part like I told them too, and they didn't even paint the top of the fender that sits on top of the engine bay, where the bolts go. I told the guy it looked like shit, and only gave him $100 instead of the $200 they said it would be.
Here's a few pics, I'm pretty pissed...
Hope you have a strong stomach...
PSYCH!
Came out absolutely perfect, like the R3V never happened. I just have to take it back to them after I get the car all back together so they can polish out a couple of little dirt pits, but other than that, it's flawless. I'm going to take my bumpers to them to be resprayed, also. Him and one of the other guys did it themselves on the side, and I paid them cash, so he told me to hold onto his number and call him when I want the bumpers done, and they'd hook me up again.Leave a comment:

I'm probably going to have them do it. There are many large areas at the front of the bumper where paint is sanded away is where the previous paint was bubbling up and peeling off, and I know that last time I primed it, I didn't use adhesion promoter before hand, so that was probably what caused it.
I also didn't think it would be a good idea to use rattle-can primer, and take it to them to have it professionaly painted.Leave a comment:

Looks pretty good. Are you priming the bumper before taking it to the paint shop? If so make sure you spray a plastic adhesion promoter before the primer.Leave a comment:

Finished with repairing the corner, fixed the uneven spots and got it all pretty straight. There is still some slight waviness to the whole area overall, due to the impact, but I don't think it will be noticeable, especially at the corner of a corner.
