    Front fender side molding install

    OK< I am racking my brain trying to figure out how to get the side molding trim installed back on the front fender. I'm fairly positive I have the correct clips;

    The shorter angled one goes in front and the long one goes towards the rear correct?

    Yes I know that front clip is missing a part, its just one I've been using for test fitting, I have new clips for all of these.

    From what I understand, you are supposed to install the clips in the panel, insert them, then push the rod down to expand the piece that went through to lock then in.The angled piece is supposed to have the high portion facing forward, then I believe you slide the molding onto the front clip, which will ride along the inside "rail" of the molding, then you just push it over the other clip, and all is good.

    The problem is, with the fender flare right in front of the front clip, I can't get the molding to slide on, there's not enough room. I've tried everything I could think of, including starting the clip in a different position, but noting seems to work.

    The door and rear fender were easy, this one is a total nightmare. I've already scratched up the fender trying to get it on. Now I painted it with rattle can Rustoleum, so thats not a big deal, but still annoying.

    Please someone have some tips on how to get this, or tell me I've got it all wrong and there is an easier way.

      Are you sure? Those are number 6 and 9 from this page; https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_0759 They are what I would send on thereat of the molding trim pieces and they worked perfectly. So then what are the right clips? Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

          Interesting, of course that part isn't available from anyone anymore. Also, looking at it, the clips installed in it, don't appear to match any of the pieces on Real OEM. Not that it is always 100% accurate.

          Also, I'm not sure if this matters, but that is the later all black trim piece, mine is an early piece with the chrome line. I know either fit on the car, but I wonder if the way they attach to the clips is different? Thus the different looking clip on that part.

          Regardless, the clips I have matched what were on the car, so I know they are correct, I just can't figure out how to get it back on.
