Fabric-Like Weatherstripping on Outside Edge of Sunroof

I have a 1985 E30 coupe with a sunroof. There is a black fabric-like weather-stripping around the top of the sunroof. It appears to be pinched in a channel on the top edge of the sunroof and glued to the side. Mine is coming loose. Where do I find this material and has anyone done this replacement and have some tips. Thanks in advance. Frank

It's the factory gasket and shouldn't be glued as it's effectively flocked rubber over a metal channel. There are two options for the gasket, get the one piece design, and be aware that you may still need to trim it with a rotary tool or similar.

The FAQ/DIY section is for staff-approved instructional posts only. Please do not ask questions there. If you don't know where to ask your question, post it in General Technical and we'll move it to the appropriate subforum if necessary. Thanks in advance.

That out of the way, when I did mine I used the two piece since that's what was on it. Some cars came with the single piece; some came with the two piece.

I *think* the cutover year to the two piece was 1986 or 1987. RealOEM will tell you what's appropriate for your car.

Either is supposed to work, and as late and early sunroof panels appear to be the same I don't see why either wouldn't.
