    Adhesive behind windshield gasket?

Replacing the headliner in my car and found the windshield gasket was "sealed" in with some sort of balck adhesive....a lot of it. I managed to cut the bulk of it out, however there is still a thin layer left on the car I can't get off. I've tried nail polish remover, paint thinner, brack cleaner and nothing.

I'm thinking about picking up a 3M Stripe Off Wheel or a generic "eraser wheel" tomorrow with the hopes that it will do the job. Any suggestions on other options?

Most frustating part is this adhesive plugged the drain holes and trapped in water on the lower portion of the windshield so there is some minor surface rust.....the only rust I've found on the car. If I can get the rest of the adhesive off I plan to sand off and Por 15 the rust and hope it that takes care of it for good.

I assume if I can get this carp off there is no reason to use any adhesive/sealant during re-install?

Not really sure what will take that windshield urethane off of the body once it has dried like that. Maybe check with some local window shops and or paint and body supply shops to see what they suggest.

BMW did NOT use urethane to install the gasket in the body of the car nor did they use it to install the glass, so do not reuse it at all...
