First things first. Im new to this kind of work and I thought I would share how good it turned out for such a noob.
The product im comfortabel using is 3M liquid rubbing compound.
So I went to Carquest to try and pick some up since I know they sell auto body supplies to the public. I get there and there was about 4 different kinds of 3M rubbing compound and polish, Some for machines, some for hand use, some with high cutting agents in them and some for just smooth shit..
I was discouraged and was about to come back to R3V and read what the fuck to get. BUT instead a promoter for this product came to me and asked me what I wanted to do. I told him its gonna all be down by hand, I didnt want to risk scratching the car and I didnt want a SHIT LOAD of white residue to clean up.. he pointed me to this

He told me this is what will probably work best for me and the black car. I didnt have the car there to show him so he really had to go by my word.
I was told this product is low residue and he has another one that is even lower residue because it uses a darker liquid color than bright white like 3M, Dont get me wrong that shit is amazing, but my non professional ass couldnt figure out which option to go with.
any ways.
washed the car of all the texas shit slime that had accumlated in one day.
Clay bared it after misting it down with mother quick detailer supplied in clay bar kit.

dried off the excess with another micro fiber cloth and appied my rubbing compound intill I got a light haze

and after a little work I got this to come out of the 20 year old paint

holy fuck is what I said...
anyways some more pictures of what I was workin' with.
shitted on the left---------Nice on the right

hazed out texas car paint.

and 15 mins of work or less

and the whole car after.

Ultimate finish system TRI CUT 2. $12.28
Mothers clay bar basic . $12.00
micro fibers . $8.00 (cosco)
32 dollars basiclly to fall in love with your car all over again..
well worth it!
later guys.
