    BBS Rear Spoiler Installation

I've seen this spoiler mounted on a few cars on here over the years and was wondering what method people are using to fasten it to the trunk. 3M adhesive or bolts?

My spoiler came with 2 L shaped bolts that attach to the mounting brackets on the spoiler (uncertain if these original). The brackets seem to align with the 'IS' holes in the trunk, however the bolts are angled awkwardly when placed through the holes of the trunk making it impossible to mount properly. Any help would be appreciated.

    The spoiler in question,

Those bolts don't look OEM to me.

are you sure you are aligning the spoiler correctly on the trunk? Do the bolts showing pivot? They look like they do?

Any way you can take a pic and post? Im trying to visualize but not working.

Yes, they do pivot but once the spoiler lays flat on the trunk the bolts aren't angled straight down as with the 'IS' studs.

Turns out that new holes need to be drilled in order to fasten it. Here's a visual difference between the stock IS lip and the BBS lip mounting holes (courtesy of Kilawin--thanks again!).

I just got my BBS spoiler and had the same question. Looks like the new bold holes have to be drilled at the the "ridge" as shown in the picture.

Besides the bolts, should one use double-sided tape or silicone to seal the spoiler to the trunk?

I wouldn't say it's necessary, but it would help preserve the paint underneath it and prevent any scuffs. Look into something with low/ medium adhesion.
