    MTechnik 1 E28 rear spoiler -- Questions/Pics

I just picked up an E28 535is rear spoiler. The rubber section appears to be in pretty good shape though the fiberglass (urethane?) insert needs attention. I've never done any sort of bodywork and this will be my first attempt. The first two pics show the damage. How would you guys go about repairing the chips at the edges and the more severe damage in the center?

Next, I'm trying to separate the fiberglass insert from the rubber base of the spoiler. The 4 hex nuts don't seem to attach them. Is it just adhesive? I didn't want to break anything so I'm just being cautious.

    Thanks for any help,
    Stu

like the e30 spoiler, you use adhesive tape to secure the insert. You'll need to do a rough sand first to remove the old paint, etc. I suggest use a Flex Primer for the rubber as well as the insert. You can still use a standard primer with a filler putty (or spray) in order to even it out. Don't use anything less than a 2000grit sand paper for the final. I generally go 200, 600, 1000, 2000.
