    Working with Carbon Fiber

    does anybody have any helpful info on building your own cabon fiber bonnets, ie frame/core construction?

    any help is appreciated..

    Yeah, here is some advice.

    If you have to ask, you aren't ready to DIY.

      thats hardly constructive advice...

      The only thing i can tell you is play with it. Start with fiber glass because its cheap... a good thing to practice with fiberglass would be to make a mold for a hood, you'll need it later anyway. A few place to look for info on carbon fiber is www.carb.com, it was a pretty good description about what makes fibers better for different applications. www.uscomposites.com has decent prices, and a shit load of epoxies.

        cheers, we already have all the materials etc including fibreglass to play with, jus wondering what others have done, ie foam or aluminium or fiberglass for the core..

          You only need foam/ aluminum honeycomb for applications that need crazy strength. Stick with fiberglass for a sandwhich core.
