    Shaved sidemarkers

I got this crazy idea the other day to shave my sidemarkers on my aluminum bumpered eta. I figured that since the euro cars didnt have sidemarkers and I dont have the plastic bumpers to buy the euro trim, I could do this myself. Has anyone ever attemepted this? I need to repaint my bumper surrounds anyway so why not fill in the wholes and go shaved? Any input, comments, questions welcome. Thanks guys.

that is way too much effort for a crappy US bumper. Just paint over the lense black like TJ did on his.
    Im now E30less.

I have painted the sidemarkers, and yea I got the idea from TJ just out of coincidence.. I was just toying with the idea of going shaved. I will just mention that I'm completely blacked out and all my trim is body color and I thought it would give it the cleanest look possible. I know what you mean by being a heck of a lot of work just to do that (guess thats why i havent seen it done yet), but I still may give it a try if i get bored this spring. It does look a lot better with the markers painted however.

Exactly, rubber shrinks and expands with changing temps much different then plastic filler and or fiberglass will. Not to mention you wont get a good bond

Well, that finalizes it. I think I'll stick with my black markers. Thanks for the info though. Knowing me if I wouldnt have asked first I would have done it thinking I was real cool and then watched everything deteriorate, crack, or fall off over time. Plastic bumper conversion may be in the near future now.

Yet another poorly thought out idea.

Oh yea.. I agree. I would rather have european bumpers than anything. I really wasnt being serious about the plastic ones because frankly if I had the money to buy them Id use it to get something else. No, jordan was right.. just not thinking. Besides that stuff probably wouldnt line up good anyway.

Your first ignorant post was kindfully deleted and overlooked.

Calling me a communist will not be. Good bye.

late plastic bumpers are worth it to some, if youre concerned about more than looks. the euro bumpers offer virtually no protection in a collision, and would be costly to find and replace.
