How to INSTALL windshield, rear window...

    Search is giving me nothing.

Done the removal part a few times, it's easy.

Now for the install. Do I put the rubber gasket in first, then put the glass in, and finally the lock strip? Or do I put the rubber gasket around the window and pop it back in, then put the lock strip in?

Will I need to put soap and water on the gasket either way?

    Thanks guys, gotta swap soon.

I re-used my gasket, so I can't help you on that part, but I can recommend you use soap and water on the gasket when you are installing the lock strip. If you don;t have the install tool for the lock strip, I imagine it will be a tough job.

Oh, I'm planning on reusing my gasket too. So you never took the gasket out? I guess that's the answer then....put the gasket in, then put the window in, then install the lock strip.

Why do you need that install tool for the lock strip? Seems fairly easy to get the old one out with a flathead, then the new one should just press in, eh?

How'd you get the glass into the gasket? Bottom first, then top?

Also, has anyone else run into the issue of the gasket tearing the dash?

put the rubber gasket in. Then, place the glass in. Now, start the lock strip. Use a small screwdriver to force the strip in. You can put one side in, and then pry the other side in. Work around the window, using WD-40 as a lubricant.

Awesome. I'm going to follow those steps verbatim, so if my windshield breaks, I expect compensation. :)

Seriously, thanks guys. Just wanted to make sure, didn't want to waste $150+ on a new one.

PS - the lockstrips are reusable, correct? Getting a set of shadowlines, want to use them for now on the ES, then swap them to the euro when I'm done. That's ok, right?

I never took the gasket out. I started by putting it in the bottom and just worked around getting it over the edge of the glass.

As for the lockstrip, it took me about three minutes to re-install it with the tool and a little container of soapy water. The way it wiggled around when I started, I can;t imagine trying to do the whole thing without the tool.
