    Rear Apron Installation help

So I purchased the Racing Dynamics rear apron from a member on this forum and the shop informed me today that it was ready for pick up. I had to get it repainted. The previous owner had a shop attach it to the bumper to give it a clean "flush" fitment so when I pick it up, I"ll be removing my bumper and putting the new one on with the attached apron.

I know you would normally attach the rear apron onto the stock rear "valence" of the car but I'm wondering if there is a DIY anywhere with instruction on how to attach the rear apron and what screws/bolts/etc.. will be needed? I want to plan ahead and have everything I need so that once I pick up the bumper/apron Thurs/Fri, I will know what to expect during installation.

I did a search for all topics containing rear apron in the title but could not find anything specific. I just heard some say use self tapping screws while others said to use bolts and not screws.

I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me what exactly i need to secure this onto the rear "valence" or the car since it's already been attached security to the bumper itself. Thanks

Might be off topic, but is this for the same white e30 you have/had?

I also have a racing dynamics rear apron, but seems like it would have to be modified to fit over the stock rear valence on my '89. Didn't think about removing the stock one first... hmmm. Any insight into this would be great.

yes this is for the same white one i currently drive. I had to get the apron/bumper repainted since it was a different color. I should be getting it back next week.

I don't believe you remove the stock valence since it is part of the body of the car. The rear apron goes over the valence and attaches to the bumper according to the previous owner of the apron i purchased.

Yea, but I believe mine is for an early model and I'm trying to put it on my '89. I have to either modify the apron, my stock valence, or just remove the stock valence.

I had mine installed on a 86 made for plastic bumpers... It was a lot of work all the hardware that came with the apron was barely utilized. I had to create some clamps to be fitted from the inside of the bumper.

Mine appear to either the sides of the apron need to be shaved down from the inside, or stock apron needs modification. The material it's made out of is some sort of resin, so I don't think it'd be easy to modify the RD apron.
