    Powdercoating

Does anyone have any experience with powdercoating or is the consensus that its to difficult for anyone other than proffesionals. Also how much cheaper is it to do it yourself over paying top dollar for a great finish.

Powdercoating uses special (expensive) equipment, so it isn't really DIY. Most people say if you don't want to spend the money, a good paint job is fine for most parts.

You can get a powdercoting sprayer for around $130 bucks. Then all you need is a non-gas oven and you are set. Basically, the parts you do will turn out as good as your painting abilites will allow them to.

And your prep work. You need to get all the oil off the material you are working with.

You can buy DIY powder coating kits. They cost upwards of 100 dollars. With a spare oven and the right prep work a DIY job could turn out to be professional quality.
