    Front Tow Hook Photo Needed

On the 1988 E30 with Diving Board bumpers and the updated front valance where and how were the tow hoops mounted at the front of the car? A photo showing the location would be great! I want to go to the updated valance and keep the DB bumpers but also have tow hoops if needed.

IIRC the tow hook screws into the bumper behind the license plate on the 88's. Sorry no pictures though...

OK, does anyone know if the steel plate is flat or like a steel channel, does it tie into the bumper shocks and about how thick it is? I don't want to have to use it and end up bending my front bumper. Also, does the tow hook utilize a hole that is in the early model bumpers or was a hole added in '88 for just this purpose? I just want to get this right before cutting the tow hoops off my '87. Thanks!

The threads on the 88 bumper are in a steel plate that extends and is connected to the steel mount that bolts to the shock mounts. Never used mine, but I dont see why it would bend it unless you were pulling it sideways or out of a lake. Late models the tow hook just threads into the shock mount itself.

I will just weld a threaded boss to the stock bumper backing plate. Thanks for the help.
