    Silicone kits M42

Hi! First of all, sorry for putting this thread here. Not sure where to put it so I just put it here.

Anyways, I'm planning on changing all hoses in my engine (M42) to silicone hoses. But I want to get the right ones, size-wise. Like the vent hose from valve cover to intake manifold and such.. Any pointers would greatly help. I'm a noob with it comes to e30 so I need help. Thanks :)

Hmmmm.. there is no real easy answer for this. If you want to do it bad enough, you’d have to go through and take measurements of the hoses you have.

One point to make would be that most ALL of the OE hoses are formed to shape and fit. I would imagine going to silicone would open new doors of difficulty in terms of getting them routed correctly.

A second point to make would be that many of the OE hoses have different diameters at either end. This – again - adds tremendous difficulty with use of silicone due to additional/needed elbows and reducer fittings.

My two cents advice would be to just go OE and keep it simple. Save yourself A LOT of trouble. Engine bays can look plenty good with OE hoses if it’s the cosmetics you’re worried about. Most of the time I see silicone hoses used – it looks cheap and tacky. (again – just my opinion)

I recently purchased a kit off eBay. Service from seller was good and they seemed to knowledgable. It will be installed in the next couple weeks, will update.
